Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Project

In order to alleviate drinking water problem in the rural villages of Nepal, NeRuDO signed the development phase and implementation phase contract for 4th scheme in 2nd batch & 3rd scheme in 3rd batch for “Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Project” with “Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board” for a period of 3 years.

Following activities were performed during the execution of the rural drinking water and sanitation project;

• Selection of water supply sources in the VDC with the coordination of local people.
• Design and estimate of selected water supply schemes.
• Assess information and registration of Water Users Group (WUG) in District Water Resource Committee for all the schemes.
• Conducted training on health and sanitation, safe drinking water, use of toilet, project management and accounting system of the scheme for the WUG members and beneficiaries. During these trainings beneficiaries were made aware of different diseases like HIV/AIDS, Kalazar, water borne diseases and prevention of such diseases.
• Conducted awareness program for teachers and students on use of safe drinking water, utility of toilets and different diseases caused by improper use of these factors.
  Construction of project scheme in full mobilization of community.
• Handed over the scheme to the WUC.
